In January the family and I spent the day at Cape Creek and the Heceta Head lighthouse. We started our walk to the lighthouse down on the beach.  Here's Mom, Jake, and myself beginning our hike.
Just resting on the beach before our journey begins.
The grass by the picnic table also seemed like a good place to take a break.
Here I am being goofy along the trail.
It's time for another rest.  What a great view!
We are now halfway to the lighthouse. This is the house where the lighthouse keeper lived with his family.
We still have quite a hike ahead of us. Here's Dad and I next to the trail.
This is Mom's favorite picture of Jake. He also stopped for a rest next to the trail. By the way, Mom took this picture!
Well, we finally made it to the Heceta Head Lighthouse. This lighthouse still functions as an aid to navigation and it's light can be seen over twenty miles out to sea. Just recently, the original lens assembly was completely renovated. In the lower picture you can see how the workers put curtains on the windows during the renovation. Now the light will shine for another hundred years.
There's another interesting fact about this lighthouse, my Mom and Dad were married in it on December 20, 1996. Just think, I was only nine years old then. Boy, time sure flies when you have as much fun as I do.
Well, we have come to the end of our adventure. That's the Cape Creek Bridge in the background.
I love where I live!
